Hello! It’s Me.

I think I have finally gotten to that point in my life where I’m no longer afraid of trying, but terrified about not trying. I lived most of my life like that. But now, as I look back on the past few months, I’ve never been happier.

About Me

Hi, I’m Linden and I have been in love with books since I was a kid. I was the type to spend endless hours reading books late into the night. I would daydream in class about various adventures, like the one where I’m making my way through a cold and quiet forest with an elf for a companion.
I also started writing from an early age. My dream job was going to be a writer. I knew that’s what I wanted to be. I even went out and bought a book about how to get your books published. This was before there was the option to self-publish your books on Amazon. Even if you were to mail your manuscript to a major publishing house, it was unlikely yours would be read, considering they get sent thousands every year. Reality sets in and you tell yourself that it’s probably near impossible to get your books published. So you move on and just “write for fun.”
As I grew older, I would write short stories, think of plots for books I would one day write, and of course, keep a daily journal. I never called myself a writer because I had never published a book. I was just someone who enjoyed writing. Writing was a way for me to make sense of all the stories that were floating around in my head.
I eventually graduated from Sacramento State University with a BA in English Literature and a Teaching English to Students of Other Languages (TESOL) certificate because I wanted to travel and one way I could do that was to teach English abroad. I enjoyed my years teaching, however, I knew it wasn’t for me.

The Piper Books

During the summer of 2022, my older brother told me he was writing a book and was going to publish it on Amazon. I honestly had no idea you could self-publish your books with Amazon and it got me thinking about all those stories I wrote as a kid. What if I could self-publish too? I could finally write a book like I always wanted. That’s when the Piper books came about. A series of eight children’s books about a girl whose just trying to figure herself out.
I wrote and illustrated the first Piper book, Piper’s Career Day Decision, and published it at the end of August of last year. Was that a journey! Hours of researching how to format an eBook or how to get your book copyrighted—it was a lot to do on your own but I had my brother to bounce ideas off of. I then went on to publish the second book, Piper’s Garden Adventure, in December. You can learn more about these books at the “Book” tab at the top.

What’s coming up

I have lots of plans for 2023 and I’m excited about what this year will bring. I am currently in the process of working on the third book in the Piper series and will hopefully get that one out and published in April this year.
If you want to stick around and follow along with my journey, I am active on Facebook and will post to this blog on a weekly basis. You can also sign-up for my monthly newsletter.
I just wanted to say thanks for being here. It means so much to me.
